Our Story

In 1992, there weren’t many options when it came to locally crafted, freshly brewed beers produced in San Diego. As such, Vince and Gina Marsaglia started brewing at home. Soon, they were making more than they could leisurely drink. Yet, they really wanted to share some of the incredible brews they created with their customers too. So, in October of 1992, a 7 barrel brewery was installed and in 1993 the first handcrafted beer brewed on the premises in Solana Beach was served.

Solana Beach Pizza Port became famous for fresh hoppy beers prompting the addition of two more Pizza Port locations in Carlsbad and San Clemente. Even with three brewing systems, there was not enough capacity to distribute the beers outside of the restaurants.

When people started asking where they could get beer besides Pizza Port, Vince and Gina knew they needed to expand the production. So in March of 2006, a new entity known as Port Brewing Co. LLC acquired the old Stone Brewing facility in San Marcos at 155 Mata Way # 104. This existing brewery space led to an increase the amount of beers available for distribution. The new brewery project is known as PORT BREWING Company!

We officially opened on May 5th 2006. Now we will be able to make up to 5000 barrels of beer enabling you more chances to drink your favorite Port Brewed beers at home and around town. More impressive is our oak barrel room where we age our barrel aged specialty beers. Come check out our tasting bar on Fridays and Saturdays where you can get bottles, jugs & merchandise to go while you sample what we’ve been brewing!
